The Story

Tuesday March 27, 2001 was an uncommon day for the city of Athens. Following six decades the capital of Greece gained another International Airport. Migrated from Elliniko areato Spata with current offices and another name the new airplane terminal built up the new period for the Greek aeronautics division. The development of the new air terminal has been propelled in July 1996 and it was conveyed to finish only five months before venture’s due date, in September 2000.

The name

Athens International Airport was named after the Prime Minister of Greece, Eleftherios Venizelos (1864-1936), considered one of the best leaders of present day and contemporary history of Greece, who was additionally a Minister of Aviation.
